Started as hypothetical conversation about how to get the edge in the close running PBMW championship, weight distribution was discussed and a cabriolet considered. Overall the weight of a stripped back e30 cabriolet is marginally more than a saloon tin top. The difference being that the cabriolet's weight is in its sills, low down where the weight is best for the circuit. A facelift car was sourced and the first BMW racing cabriolet was built!
